Welcome to The Portal Comics and Gaming

Greetings all.
My name's Mike and I love all things gaming. I always have for as long as I can remember. In middle school I started playing Dungeons & Dragons - yes, that is not the Advanced kind, just the regular kind. When you got to 0 hit points you died, game over, that was it. Not you go unconscious and then die when you got to -10, just dead. That's D-E-D.
Ah yes, the memorable Red Box. If those words carry weight with you and mean something, then you certainly are a gamer. Remember cracking that box, breaking out the dice that needed a crayon to fill in the numbers on the dice?
Are you back there yet? Two books: one player's guide and one dungeon master's handbook. Six dice and a crayon. That was the early 80's version because there was material before that, I'm not that old, really.
If you're there you remember traversing the solo adventure that was included with that particular release. You played a fighter. That was your first run in with a rust monster...and a goblin, at least most of us would be gamers would have already known about goblins and orcs, since we were certainly all fans of J.R.R. Tolkien.
And the riddle spouted by the Magic Mouth...
O, T, T, F, F, S, S...
What letter came next. Do you know? If you can answer that you are indeed a gamer. Now I don't remember much more than that, to be honest, but I do remember the excitement of how it made me feel and I know that that day, the first day I played that solo mission, the first day I cracked that box, that was the beginning of it all!
I was a gamer and there was no going back. To that I owe a thank you, a most sincere one, to one Mr. Gary Gygax.
Thank you Gary. May it bring a smile to your face, in whatever realm you reside, with every natural 20 rolled here upon this Earth.
So that's how I ended up here, part owner of The Portal Comics and Gaming located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Our brick-and-mortar location has been open since 2004 and we have grown since than. A better location than our humble beginnings and now a better web site and web store.
We do what we do because we love gaming and through our new web site and store we look forward to bringing more of that love to you.
Thank you.
